My series “Ancestors” has been a diversion in creating imaginary ancestral forms of the origins of fish and amphibians in their interminable adaptations to their aquatic environment. Forms with locomotory extensions, elongated protuberances of muscles, spiny tails, fins, scales, and precarious gills are some of the features of these sculptures which represent unique versions of zoological species.
Here is my intention…by using a bit of incertitude with a touch of magic to these sculptures of wood I have created, I want to invite the curious spectator to submerge oneself in this fantasy surrounded by these imaginary marine figures that execute undulating movements in an ancient and silent world which never existed.
